FPL EMEA Quarterly Meeting, June 18th, London

FPL would like to welcome Richard Bell, Director, Peresys as the new FPL EMEA Southern Africa Committee Co-Chair.
Richard started his career at the Board of Executors where he implemented special projects for the investment management group. This was followed by three years at Coronation Fund Manager as Head of Technology. In 2000 Richard joined Peresys where he continues to focus on delivering solutions to the investment management community both in South Africa and Europe, with a particular focus on FIX and business process automation.
We would also like to thank Richard’s predecessor Sam Phajane of the Bond Exchange of South Africa, for his dedication and commitment within this position. 



Earlier this month FPL organised the inaugural FPL Latin America Electronic Trading Conference. This event delivered a series of presentations and panel discussions focused on the opportunities and challenges presented to firms wishing to trade in Latin America and the many benefits that electronic trading and FIX adoption offers to the region. 
The feedback gained from event delegates, speakers and exhibitors proved very positive and we will be hosting a meeting on Friday, May 2nd to discuss how FPL may further activities within the region. Asia-Pacific Highlights

Following some industry engagement / presentations by the FPL Asia Pacific Committee, the Taiwan and India markets have taken steps towards making access / trading more efficient for institutions. 
The group is looking to hold a buy-side dinner in Australia and engage the buy-side in the region to obtain their input / support on the development of FIX for the Australian institutions looking to trade more efficiently across the globe. 

Japan Highlights
 
The Governance Board is exploring a potential collaboration with FIAJ (Futures Industry Association Japan Chapter).
The Block Trading Average Price Working Group is almost ready to submit the report of proposing suggested work flows for adopting average pricing to handle block trading allocation in the Japanese market. 

Global Foreign Exchange Highlights

During the global meeting on April 22nd the committee agreed to conduct an FX Breakfast Briefing in New York. The suggested time frame for the breakfast briefing would be either mid June / mid July running for approximately two hours.  If your firm is interested in hosting the briefing please contact Kathleen.callahan@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx for additional details.
