FpML-RPTWG Multi-regulator and multi-jurisdictional reporting scenario
An example of an
entity, in this case a derivative end user,
who is required to report in multiple jurisdictions
and, potentially, to multiple regulators:
A US
company buys a Canadian company. The
US company (parent) enters into a USD-CAD Cross Currency Swap. The US
parent company values and reports the trade in USD for US accounting
and US financial reports. The parent also values and reports the same transaction in CAD for Canadian
accounting and Canadian financial reporting on behalf of the child
entity.
The reporting
logistics can get even more complicated if the parent and child
organizations operate in the EU, or in
Asia.
