FpML-VAL RE: To be published in the First Working Draft of 4.5 (1st week of September)

Attached is an updated HTML rendition for your review with some of the changes agreed upon at today’s meeting (please refer to the issues list)

Note that the most extensive change agreed but not implemented yet is:

"[xyz exists]" -> "[exists(xyz)]"
"[xyz does not exist]" -> "[not(exists(xyz))]"

There have been numerous discrete resolutions adopted by the working group over the past several months resulting in significant changes to the validation rules. We’d like to give the group the opportunity to review the combined results (see attached HTML renditions*) and make sure everyone is comfortable with their impending publication in the First Working Draft of FpML 4.5 (1^st week of September)

In all cases, all changes were agreed at the ValWG. Let us know asap if you find any problems/deviations.

Items of interest:

- Refactoring of conditions, contexts

- Streamlining of terminology, use of mathematical symbols

- Implementation of functions: iff(), same-currency()

- Shared functions page

- new section 4.6 “Rule Specifications” added to Validation architecture (adapted from “Validation Rule Specifications - Principles and Guidelines.doc” Word document 5/29/2008)

Note this is work-in-progress and there are outstanding logged issues that may not be implemented in 4.5 WD1.
