Summary

The schema files are not consistent in placing the English language annotation first - many have German first. This means that in some tools (XML Spy for example) elements show the German documentation in the GUI.

Since FpML documentation is primarily in English this inconsistency should be fixed.

The following files in FpML 4.1 Recommendation have been adjusted to make this change consistent:

    fpml-asset-4-1.xsd
    fpml-enum-4-1.xsd
    fpml-eqd-4-1.xsd
    fpml-eqs-4-1.xsd
    fpml-eq-shared-4-1.xsd
    fpml-shared-4-1.xsd

The following files in FpML 4.0 Recommendation have been adjusted to make this change consistent:

    fpml-asset-4-0.xsd
    fpml-enum-4-0.xsd
    fpml-eqd-4-0.xsd
    fpml-eqs-4-0.xsd
    fpml-shared-4-0.xsd

The change will also be made in the next draft of version 4.2.

To maintain consistency and accommodate various XML tool GUI’s, the xml:lang of “en” (English) has been placed before other available alternative languages.

This change effectively makes English the default language for schema descriptions.
