Missing documentation in the XML Schema. The definition is incorrect. This should be “sovereign state” and not “country”. I can think of quite a few countries that are not states: Scotland, Wales, Greenland, Black.

It is impossible to reliably implement the FpML coding schemes because they are defined as being of arbitrary length. Implement the facets so a maximum length is established for coding scheme values.

Add an identifier base type for identifiers. This would be very useful for extending and querying.
The FpML architecture should be specific that there is no assumption that message sequence is preserved over the transport. There is potential for disagreement in implementations over whether message sequence is preserved. In practise no enterprise bus preserves sequence.
